    Description

    For sale is
a superb large figurine made by Niderviller in the late 18th century . This is the type of figure they are famous for - the white biscuit, very detailed, fun pieces. The piece is of four figurines on a rocky base with a tree stump in the center. The top gentleman is leaning against the tree trunk and was probably holding a flute at some point, there is another gentleman standing behind a lady that is sitting on a rock ledge and a boy is sitting on the back side holding a sheep in his hands. There is a basket sitting next to the lady on the ground and there used to be what looks like a dog sitting on the backside but all that is left are the paws. The entire peice is standing on a large smooth base which gives it extra height and a nice finished look. Lots of amazing detail to this figurine! The figure displays nicely but has issues - the missing dog I already mentioned and the flute but also there has been work done to the man's hands and the tree trunk that ends right next to him is rough though that might be the way it was made. The gentlman that is behind the lady has had work done to his hat and the lady is missing her right hand and the tip of her foot. But it really still looks stunning on display. The piece is marked with the word Niderviller on a little plaque which is attached to the back top behind the gentleman on the ground but it is partially gone. One can still make out enough to figure out the maker though. The figure is a bit over 14 inches tall and the base has a diameter of just over 7 inches. It is quite a heavy piece! antique French France Porzellan Figur antique
