    Description

    A Fine Scroll written in Japanese Hiragana Cursive Writing by the reputbale Mita Seihaku also known as Mita Kyoshi with his seal 三田 清白 (1919-1971).
    Dimensions of the paper itself 135.5 cm * 34.5 cm (53.4 inches *13.6 inches)
    The callicraphy is a poem originally by the famous Matsuo Basyo (1644-1684) He wrote this when he was visiting the great Ise jingu shrine.
    なんの木の花とはしらず 匂ひかな
    Nannokino Hanatowa
    Shirazu nioi kana
    Which roughly translates -”there is a sent in the air welcoming my visit - I do not know the name of the tree that blossoming with the lovely fragrance”
