Exquisite Antique Victorian Parasol Ornately Carved "Mourning"

Description

Up for auction and fresh to the market from a old Family estate comes this Gorgeous High end 19th century Victorian Mourning Parasol! I measures approx. 26-1/2" long and when it's fully open its only 19" wide so its on the smaller size. Not sure if this was for a child or just a small petite lady? The fabric part is black possibly silk and like 2 layers with a cut scalloped edge then fancy ornate black lace on top that hangs over the edge (see photo). Over all the interior looks great and on top the just the black lace has damage in spots where there are tears but over all because it so black you don't really notice it and there's a black ribbon on top as well that's tied around the top carved finial (see photo). As for the shaft & handle & the tip top of the parasol, it is all exquisitely hand carved with great detail (see photos) and of course it has taken on a nice subtle aged patina. There is also a sterling silver band in the middle and its engraved with the name: E. Hamilton (see photo). The handle is in excellent condition and the Fabric part as mentioned above there is damage to the black lace, which could be replaced if you wanted and that's it. It comes in a very old cardboard box which it has been stored in for many years and the box is in fair condition. Exquisite Victorian Parasol!
