Here for sale is an NAD T973 7 Channel Power Amplifier. This unit must have suffered some sort of surge or signal spike from a connected processor at some point in the past. When I received the unit, only (1) channel was working. The remaining channels either had very weak or no output at all. The issue was traced to some failed components in the input buffer circuitry. This seems to have been a known issue to NAD as various revisions of the boards came after this. These boards are labeled Version 11.0 MP 2003. I was able to locate the service manual and source the appropriate replacement parts to rebuild the input circuitry of all 7 cards. I also recapped all the cards while I had the boards removed from the heat sinks. The original caps all tested fine but the JH Capacitors that NAD uses tend to have issues over their lifetime. After the repair I performed a thorough bench and burn in test. This unit was stored on its side at a service center for a long period of time before I took possession of the unit. Service Outline:
Input buffer circuits rebuilt on all 7 cards. This included matched sets of BJT transistors, NOS N Channel JFETs, and hand picked precision resistors where needed
All electrolytic capacitors replaced on all 7 cards
Idle current adjustment made to service manual spec
ISC adjustment made to service manual spec
Temperature sense level adjustment made to service manual spec
All channels tested to rated output power with an 8 ohm load and 1KHz sine wave
Frequency response comparison from channel to channel - All channels have flat response and are well matched
Burn in testing - (2) 10 hour running stints testing random channel pairs throughout
Bench & listening test pass on all channels
