    鳳有高梧鶴有松 means Chinese phoenixs dwell in a Chinese parasol tree while cranes dwell in a pine tree.
    Signature (Seal) :
    YAMAOKA TESSHU
    (1836-1888) was a famous swordsman and politician from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. He played an important role in the Meiji Restoration. He learned swordsmanship from Yamaoka Seizan (1829-1855) and married his younger sister. He is called the "Bakumatu San Shu" together with Takahashi Deishu and Katsu Kaishu.
