    Summary: After the festival of the cherry blossoms held at the Imperial court, Genji has an affair with a princess. At the end of the spring, Genji is invited to a feast held at the residence of the Udaijin (Minister of the Right) and discovers that she is a daughter of his political enemy the Udaijin, and moreover, she is the woman called Oborozukiyo (the misty moon), who is going to be married to Genji's older brother.

    TOSA MITSUOKI
    (1617-1691) was a Tosa-school painter born in Osaka. He succeeded his father, Tosa Mitsunori (1583-1638), as head of the Tosa school and brought the Tosa school to Kyoto after around 50 years in Sakai, Osaka. Around the time of 1654 he gained a position as a court painter that had for many years traditionally been held by the Tosa family, but was in possession of the Kano school since the late Muromachi period (1338-1573).
