KGSSHV Carbon
, designed by the famous Kevin Gilmore.
Simply said, the KGSSHV Carbon is the
best solid-state amp you could get for STAX headphones
. Evolving from the KGSSHV, it has become the refence for all electrostatic amps out there. Most detailed, most controlled bass and speedy amp among my builds are what I would say about the Carbon.
As all my other amps, the CARBON sports a
fully customized classy chassis
. It's not simply an ugly, plain off-the-shelf one that you often see out there.
Top, bottom and rear panels are all 4mm thick while the front is 10mm
.  This is one of the last Carbons that has gold heatsinks.
This Carbon runs on
400v rails with 18mA bias current
, which I think is a sweet spot for best sound. The amp does run very
HOT
so please make sure it has appropriate space and cooling around.
One set of XLR input and one Pro bias jack are provided
. Custom toroidal transformer offers top performance and low noise. As the world's situation affecting the solid state transistors around the world, the output devices of the Carbon have been out of stock everywhere so make sure you grab it while it's still available.
As many already knew, the Carbon is an ultimately detailed and neutral amp. It has the power to drive the 007/009S to the utmost level with very well-controlled bass.
With the stock Alpha potentiometer, the only upgrade options are below:
+ Alps RK27 quad potentiometer: .
+ TKD quad potentiometer: 5.
Mains voltage is
either 115V or 230V
. There is a switch on the rear panel to change the voltage, pretty easy to do.
The dimensions are
365mm (14.3") W x 315mm (12.4") D x 95mm (3.7") H.
Shipping cost is guesstimated for the USA and Canada. Europe, especially UK, will be a little bit more due to different shipping zone. It will be handled by DHL.
