Japanese scroll of a Daruma, a Buddhist monk who stated Zen
Buddhism
. It's drawn on paper with a silk border and gold flakes. It was brought
from Kyoto, Japan. The solid paulownia wood custom fit storage box comes with it.
This was painted by the artist with sumi ink and a brush. There is no room for mistakes using sumi ink. Only the skill of the artist.
It's 56 1/2 x 26 3/4 inches (2144 x 68 cm)
The painting itself, The "Honshi" is 28 1/2 x 22 inches (72 x 36cm)
