Vintage ~TESTED JADE~ Chinese Carved Pendant Amulet ~Fish ~Lily ~Stand

Description

This auction is for a beautiful vintage Chinese jade carving that was used as a pendant, amulet or charm.  The jade is mottled white with a streak of beautiful emerald green running through the stone.  The pendant is rectangular in shape with carvings on both sides.  There is a hole near the top.  One side is carved with two fish, ruyi and a lotus pod.  The carving is deep and there is a border around the amulet.  The other side has a lovely carving of ruyi.
Many Chinese carvings sold as jade or jadite are actually hard stones.  This carving tested as jadite on a Presidium Gem Tester so it is genuine jade.  The carving has a nice weight of 69.3 grams and is cool & smooth to the touch.
A lovely vintage Chinese carved wood scroll stand is included in the auction to display the amulet.  The stand has original labels on the bottom that read "Made in China" and an original price tag of .99.
Carved discs, pendants, charms and amulets have been unearthed in Chinese tombs that date back at least 3000 years.  The exact original use is not documented.  It is believed the objects were used as amulets or charms to ward off evil and bring good fortune to the owner.  They were sometimes worn as pendants or on clothing in later times.
The carving of this lovely pendant required great skill and time by a Chinese artisan.  The antique carving is in excellent condition with normal wear as expected from being an antique.  There may be small surface scratches on the carving.  I see no damage such as chips, cracks or repairs.    The old scroll stand is in excellent pre-owned condition with no damage or repairs.  There are a few surface scratches.
