Vintage 1930s Japanese scroll painting of beautiful young woman - similar to shin hanga
This lovely Japanese scroll painting depicts a young woman in a black floral kimono and is painted in a similar style to shin hanga artists like Ito Shinsui. The signature is unknown but may be either Utaji or Kanoko (it looks similar to signed bijin scrolls on the Ohmi Gallery website). The painting measures approximately 16" x 48", plus the silk brocade border. There is a small hole in the fabric at the very top of the scroll (not in the painting itself), and one of the end caps is missing from the lower bone cylinder on the bottom of the scroll.
