VINTAGE CHINESE METAL ALLOY DOUBLESIDED TAOIST TEMPLE AMULET / PLAQUE. #1
This is an amulet from a temple of the Taoist semi-god (derived from a most powerful Chinese folklore and literary martial hero Kwan Kung (Guan Yu) who was respected by both the gangs and police as well as the ordinary Chinese people. It was for, probably, soldiers going to fronts, policemen, boxers or gangsters going to battle or travellers leaving home, sort of fengshui tablet. The words mean the seal of the Kwan Emperor (honorary title for this martial god) suppressing the rebellion and the protection from the evil or dangers.
Ex estate so can’t help out with any history on the item. It's made of a white metal alloy, definately not silver though. It's quite heavy set, weighs 146 grams & measures 95mm high x 58mm wide x 4mm thick.
There is some verdigris to the edge, wear, scratches and knocks.
